My Plans for the New Year!!!

In response to Mrs. Kallas's blog for my new years resolution I have three main goals I want to achieve this year!
1. I want to get a job by January 31. One that gives me decent hours and does not only give me 10-15 hours a week. I want to get a job that will pay and treat me well as well as giving me the hours I need.
2. I want to get in shape for the new year and not be out of breath from simply walking up one flight of stairs. Achieving this goal will allow me to be healthier, not as tired, and feel better about myself all around.
3. The last but certainly not the least, I want to get all my grades to at least an 85 or above by the end of this year. My grades being this high will help me feel better but also show that I really am trying to achieve in school. It will also show that I really do know what is going on in my classes.

Initiative

In my opinion active, drive ambition, leadership, and originality are all synonyms for initiative which means that someone isn't afraid to take charge or try to help. Initiative means constantly trying to do something that you want to do or what needs to be done. Some examples of taking initiative in your classrooms are...

  1. Making your own lessons or games.
  2. Helping your teacher without them having to ask you.
  3. Volunteer one-on-one help to a student.
  4. DON'T sit in the back of the classroom and "observe".
  5. Put kids where they are supposed to be if your teacher is busy.
  6. Think of creative ways help kids learn.
  7. Enter the classroom and get started right away.
  8. Try to see what needs to be done in the classroom before your told.
  9. Stay very focused.
  10. Always continue to show that you really want to be there.
In my classroom this week I helped all the students that weren't catching up on everything as fast as they should be or as fast as the other children. We began something that they have never done this weeks and my teacher needed help teaching the slower students. I impacted my teacher by helping her and she wasn't so stressed out because she wasn't the only one trying to teach them something all by herself.

Lack of Confidentiality

To respond to Mrs. Kallas's blog, the volunteer application on the BISD website does not give enough information to future volunteers. Confidentiality is not stressed enough through the application. Volunteers need to know what they can and cannot do or say. Volunteers should not be able to talk about confidential information to others just because they are not part of staff. They still deal with students every day and should not have the right to talk about other students.

Just because a volunteer is not a teacher should not give them the right to talk about a child to someone that has no logical reason for  knowing. What is going on in a students life or is not something every body in the world needs to know.

If volunteers go against the volunteer policy, we need to make sure the rules are enforced and in effect. If volunteers go against the policy they should not be able to work with the students. Make the volunteer do something that is not around many students such as organizing or planning everything. Volunteers need to realize that a students life should not be a topic of conversation.

Reframing Scenario Number Three

In Scenario three on Mrs. Kallas's blog if my mentor was absent from her class and the substitute said I could leave I would not just leave and do my homework.
I would try and interact with the children and see if the children need any help or if there was anything from the previous day that my mentor gave me to do that I could be working on

How My Digital Footpring Will Affect My Future

In Abbas' Video a common thing he mentioned was how if your parents were on your facebook, Twitter, or any other social websites, you would not post or say anything you would not want them to see. This stood out to me because it is very true and that should always be on someones mind when they post a picture or a status, Just as Abbas said, colleges look up your facebook to see what kind of person you are and just how responsible you are.

Think before you post!

When Abbas says, "I feel like nothing brings me down" in the video, he was talking about social websites. If colleges were to investigate his facebook or twitter that there would not be anything on there that would make him seem immature or someone they might not want at their college. There's nothing on his social websites that would express irresponsibility.

People should not always be judged for something they post on the Internet because that does not necessarily mean that they are always like that in person. For example, if somebody posted statuses that always come off very rude and immature and then you talk to them in person and they are very quiet and sweet. People do not always act the same on the Internet as they do in person.

Welcome!!

Hello!

This blog is here for everybody to see the assignments and what I'm doing in EAT.  I was inspired to become a teacher just a few years ago when I met an amazing teacher. This year will be a great year with all the students I will get the privilege to meet and spend my time with!
